How should colleges use their endowments responsibly? This week’s Common Hour confronts this question with a panel of four experts.

Each one provides a unique but overlapping perspective on what other colleges have construed to be their investor responsibility, how they put that into practice, and how this has made an impact. One important way that being a responsible investor can make a difference is to enliven the campus as well as to influence the wider world.

As we embark on a period of strategic discussion here at F&M, it will be instructive to learn how taking a stand on or deliberating about contemporary issues as an investor might provide useful on-campus benefits in ways that inspire our students and launch them into citizenship earlier. Please join the conversation on Thursday.

Panel discussion:

  • Heidi Welsh, Executive Director and Founder, Sustainable Investments Institute;
  • Parker Snowe, Executive Director, Center for Peace and Global Citizenship, Haverford College
  • Shannon Mudd, Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics, Haverford College
  • Martin Bourqui, Responsible Endowments Coalition
